Announcing the 2018 Founder's Award Recipients!

Post date: Jun 30, 2019 1:35:06 PM

The Founder’s Award was created in 1981 by the National Order of the Arrow Committee to honor and recognize those Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to the lodge. The award is reserved for a member who demonstrates to his fellow Arrowmen that he memorializes in his everyday life the spirit of achievement as described by the Order’s founders, Dr. E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson. While the Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction, the Founder’s Award is used to recognize those Arrowmen, youth and adult, who have impacted the Lodge in a positive and lasting way. This is a rare and distinguished honor presented to recognize the spirit of our Founders that is visible in worthy Arrowmen.

Congratulations to this year's Founders Award recipients!

Mr. John Harris Sr.

Mr. John Harris Sr. has had a profound impact on the Arrowman in Japan as Chapter Adviser His passion for Scouting and Service lead to his appointment as Associate Lodge Adviser. His willingness to take on challenges was displayed at the 2017 National Leadership Seminar hosted in Atsugi, Japan. Without his efforts as the event site coordinator, the youth and adults of Achpateuny Lodge would not have been able to experience national level training. He is an Arrowman who was truly chosen for what he will do in the future in service to the youth of the OA and Scouting!
