Nominations are now open for the 2016 Vigil Honor. The nomination deadline is midnight December 1, 2016.

Vigil Honor members are selected by a committee comprised of Vigil-ineligible youth members from across the council. Most of these youth members probably don’t know your nominee so please elaborate on as much of your nominee's OA and Scouting-related information and activities as possible.

You may nominate multiple candidates but please remember that the Vigil Honor is meant for only the most active and deserving Brotherhood members who have demonstrated the OA principles of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service.

The attached 2016 Vigil Eligible List are the current Arrowmen eligible to be nominated for the Vigil Honor based on the below eligibility criteria of a member in good standing with Achpateuny Lodge #803 and a Brotherhood member for at least two years. If you do not receive notification that your nomination has been received via Google Forms or email within 72 hours of submission please contact adviser@oa803.org.

Vigil Honor nominations

The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Brothers who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting or their Scout camp. Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor recommendation.

The Vigil Honor dates back to 1915 when our Founder, Dr. E. Urner Goodman, became the first Vigil Honor member. The Vigil Honor is a recognition of one’s commitment to servant leadership. Alertness to the needs of others is the mark of the Vigil Honor.

Please provide as much information about the nominee as possible. In this way the Awards Selection Committee can make a fair assessment of the contributions of the nominee to the Lodge.

To be eligible for the Vigil Honor an Arrowman must:

1. Be registered in the Far East Council, BSA.

2. Be a member in good standing of Achpateuny Lodge #803.

3. Be a Brotherhood member for at least two years.

In order for a nomination to be accepted it must:

1. Be submitted on the current Vigil Honor Nomination form or via Google Forms (link above).

2. Be received no later than midnight December 1, 2016.
