West Goes East... Far East!

TOKYO -- Region leadership traveled to Tokyo, Japan to conduct a National Leadership Seminar. The seminar was held February 18-20 at Camp Tama Hills, military recreation center, near Tokyo. The number of participants surpassed expectations at 64 coming from the Far East Council. The council serves scouts overseas and military bases in Japan, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Okinawa, and the Philippines. This is the first time a National Leadership Seminar has been held outside of the United States.

The coordination of the event started a few years ago and would not have been possible without the hard work of Derek Hartley from Japan and Steve Bradley, Region Chairman. The participants received in-depth training on leadership skills and techniques as well as a chance to meet together as a lodge. Participants designed a contract with themselves to apply at least three of these skills at home. The Achpateuny Lodge created a special flap for the event which was given to each participant.
